SHATTERED!

We all know what it means to have something shatter. We all know what it looks like and what it sounds like.

shattered glassHave you ever dropped something fragile or hit a window, and it shattered? I know I have. Mmmm, and there’s nothing like that immediate hot flash you get when you realize you have to explain what happened! Its awesome, right? 😉 When something shatters you see all the pieces; some big, others small, strewn out in the open. They can be harmful, and perhaps cut you. But what happens when a life or dreams seem shattered? Isaiah 64:8 says “Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” We are just jars of clay! What happens when you drop a clay jar? It shatters.

Sometimes we feel shattered. Like our life is falling to bits, and all the pieces are scattered about. The good, the bad, and the ugly are all open and vulnerable, and some pieces may be sharp enough to cut.

Let me tell you this… life is hard, bad things happen; car accidents, crimes, floods, death, disease, cancer, just to name a few! But even through all these changes and hardships, God stays constant! But even in spite of that we tend to let the worry, fear, anger and depression get the better of us, we wallow in it, because lets face it we all get upset when life doesn’t go as planned! Back in bible days torches and sometimes lamps were kept in clay jars or pitchers. Judges 7:20 says, “When the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers, they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hand for blowing, and cried, “A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!”.   They had to break the pitchers before the light of the torch within could be seen… And likewise with us. If we are clay pots, made by the works of God’s hands, then we might have to be broken or cracked before we can, unselfishly, let the light of Jesus shine through us! The bible says, “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those humble themselves will be exalted”! Life might crack us. That’s just plain and simple! But…. It is in those cracking points that we can see God’s plan working. We may not be the first ones to see it, but in the end God’s way, His plan, His love and care for us is far more than even we can comprehend!

I hope this encouraged some of you! And inspired others. I hope it inspired you to look past the cracks in life and look at the face on the other side… God!

Have a wonderful day, God bless!
